Farm Winter Update

Planting In Greenhouse on November 4th

Well it has been a while since our last post and many of you are probably wondering what has been happening on the farm. Larry and Dr. Kerr, a CSA member, planted salad mix in the greenhouse on November 4th and it is growing….. but very slowly. We will be planting mustard greens as soon as the weather warms up a bit. Larry is busy ordering seeds, hiring interns and making planting plans for next season. We are thrilled to report that we have purchased the long desired spader that Larry has been needing and are excited to see how it will improve our farming techniques this coming season. It is almost that wonderful time of year when we will be sending out emails regarding 2011 CSA…….I miss all those yummy vegetables! Our goal for this year is 50 and if you were a member last year you will have the opportunity to join first and then we will move to the people on our waiting list.

One final report that Battle Creek Gardens would like to share with you is that Larry and BHHEC are working together with Little Light Studios filming a documentary about agriculture and the current state of health that our country is in today. This is a amazing opportunity to show the world that there are ways to grown nutritionally rich foods without harmful chemicals and that food can be your medicine. Please pray for this project and if you are interested you can find out more information at http://www.pulsefilm.org or just clink on the link PULSE under links to the right. Stay warm and we look forward to 2011 and all the beautiful bounty we will be growing and sharing with you all!
